Tyre Hill Stables to be a training yard again

Racehorses return to Tyre Hill Stables at Hanley Swan

The renowned Worcestershire training yard begins an exciting new chapter under Mickey Bowen.

Racehorse training has returned to the Tyre Hill Stables at Hanley Swan, following the sale of the renowned Worcestershire training yard to a private investor who has contracted the running of the operation to leading National Hunt trainer Mickey Bowen.

Now renamed RoseWill Stables, the yard marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Bowen, whose growing operation is relocating from Haverfordwest to one of the country's best-equipped racing establishments.

Situated between Upton upon Severn and Malvern, the picturesque training centre was originally home for trainer David Dennis before later operating as a livery yard. Its return to professional racehorse training ensures the exceptional facilities will once again be used to develop and train top-class National Hunt horses.

The impressive estate includes:

  • A three-bedroom cottage with staff annex,
  • 64 stables, tack rooms, yard office and canteen, two horse walkers, equine pool, solarium,
  • Walking ring, a 60m x 30m outdoor arena,
  • A 2¾-furlong round canter, a 4¾-furlong Polytrack round canter, a six-furlong Polytrack gallop,
  • About 75 acres of railed paddocks and around 96 acres in total.

The property's outstanding gallop complex and state-of-the-art training facilities attracted strong interest from across the professional equestrian world before the sale was agreed.

Mickey Bowen believes the move represents a major step forward for the stable.

"We're incredibly excited to be bringing our loyal existing owners with us to RoseWill Stables, while also welcoming new owners to join us on this exciting new chapter," said Bowen. "This move gives us the opportunity to build something truly special. We're looking forward to creating a successful, competitive yard where owners feel part of the team, enjoy the journey with us, and share in our future successes."

He added:

"With the quality of horses that we now have, it will be much easier to campaign them from Worcestershire, giving us excellent access to the country's major racecourses while continuing to provide first-class facilities at home."

The property was being marketed with a price guide of £2.2m, and Tom Windsor Clive of Windsor Clive International says "We had interest from a wide spectrum of the professional horse world, particularly racehorse trainers and eventers. The sellers are delighted to see the yard being brought back into its proper use".

"The crucial point of the sale was to ensure that the price guide was correct at the outset. Buyers need to be aware of the value they are getting when they are buying."
