2015 - Lettings update by Will Harford
Windsor Clive International Lettings 2015 2015 has been a busy year with yards for both the race horse trainer and sports horse operator on the books at Windsor Clive as well as a number of Stud Farms. In the early part of the year a lease on Hope Hall Stud at Dullingham was taken on by a Middle Eastern tenant. Training Yards in Newmarket also let well with George Scott, Lady Cecil's former assistant, starting his own career at Saffron House Stables and next door Ed Walker taking a lease on 100 boxes at Eve Lodge Stables. Closer to home Andrew Balding's assistant, Chris Bonner and his wife Clare have also taken a lease on East Leaze near Aldbourne, from where they are expanding their pre-training enterprise. The property was in demand from a lengthy list of outstanding tenants, many of whom are still on the hunt for the perfect base. There have been two notable factors in the 2015 lettings market, firstly that demand outstripped supply several fold for properties with good sized arenas, be they indoor or outdoor. Consequently we enter 2016 with a number of outstanding tenants seeking a base for sport horses. The second trend in 2015 has been the rise of the pre-trainer, with many trainers now avoiding a lease on a second yard, the need to accommodate horses on an overflow basis is being met by those pre-trainers who have suitable facilities who can house those additional horses on a hotelier like basis. Many doing so have been quick to create good reputations and consequently solid businesses. Properties let in 2015 Hope Hall Stud, Newmarket East Leaze, Aldbourne Saffron House Stables, Newmarket Eve Lodge Stables, Newmarket Shefford Valley Stables, Lambourn
